Fellowships
ASME Federal Fellows
The program enables selected ASME members to spend one (1) year in Washington, D.C. working with the staff of a congressional committee, U.S. Senator or U.S. Representative. They provide a valuable public service while providing engineers with a unique opportunity to participate directly in the policy making process. The process is very competitive. A stipend of $55,000 will be awarded to each Fellow for the year. Fellowship applicants must be U.S. citizens and ASME members at the time of application.
ASME Graduate Teaching Fellowships
GTF’s are a collaboration between ASME and university mechanical (or related) engineering departments to encourage doctoral candidates to pursue a career in engineering education. Multiple $5,000 Fellowships are awarded annually and can be renewed with an additional $5,000 award for a second year.
Donald O. Thompson Graduate Fellowship
The Thompson Graduate Fellowship is open to Masters and Ph.D. graduate students helping to advance the field by doing research in Nondestructive Evaluation, including techniques such ultrasonics, x-rays, eddy currents, thermography, and microwaves, as well as other NDE methods. A $5,000 fellowship will be awarded annually and can be renewed with an additional $5,000 award for a second year.
