ASME is now accepting nominations for Student Member leadership and service awards. Learn more about how to submit someone’s Student Section of the Society work for an award.
ASME’s Student Member and Advisor awards program celebrates individuals who have made important contributions in leadership and service. Awards recognize those who have contributed to the programs and operations of a Student Section of the Society, function as advisors to students, or engage in social-service, civic, or public-spirited activities for the benefit of society.

The Society is now accepting nominations for the following Student Member and advisor awards.

The Charles T. Main Student Leadership Award recognizes current undergraduate ASME Student Members whose leadership and service qualities have contributed to the programs and operations of a Student Section of the Society. It seeks those who have enhanced student activities within their department, including activities and services related to mechanical engineering students at their institution, the engineering profession, and ASME.

The Committee on Honors will award first place, second place, and honorable mentions to qualified candidates. The nomination deadline is March 1. For more information, helpful instructions, tips, and more, click here.

The Outstanding Student Section Advisor Award is awarded to a Student Section Advisor and Member. The award recognizes the leadership and service qualities of a Student Section Advisor including accomplishments in such areas as providing guidance to the Student Section on the activities and programs that will stimulate interest in the profession, creating a professional awareness in Student Members that will inspire them to upgrade to Member before graduation, and maintaining a continuous active ASME membership.

The Arthur L. Williston Award recognizes an engineering student or recent graduate for “fostering civic service.” The Committee on Honors is looking for individuals who demonstrate considerable leadership in activities that “stimulate, foster, or develop increased interest in, sense of responsibility for, or urge [others to] participate in social-service, civic, or public-spirited activities for the benefit of society.” Examples of such leadership may include serving in elected office or on active operating/advisory boards, leading initiatives on campus and/or in local community-based organizations, and participating in advocacy on critical issues, particularly those relevant to engineering. Efforts that demonstrably increase civic engagement shall receive special consideration.
