Hispanic Heritage Month
Hispanic Heritage Month
September 15th marks the start of Hispanic heritage month, a 30-day celebration of the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans on U.S. history, culture, and achievements.
This September and October, we recognize the importance of uplifting Hispanic engineer voices and stories. Recently, I sat down with Jay Flores on the ASME Unconventional Engineering podcast to discuss his journey as an engineer and his work inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders. I invite you to listen to the conversation here.
I also encourage you to listen to my conversation with Sylvia Acevedo.
ASME has a long commitment to supporting Hispanic American engineers. We are proud to partner with organizations like SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers), including offering a reciprocal membership discount implemented last year.
In addition, my colleagues at ASME have founded the Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Achievement (HOLA), an employee resource group where peers can connect and collaborate to foster professional growth and ensure that ASME is welcoming to all.
Diversity and inclusion are key to the success and longevity of the engineering profession. Going forward, ASME will continue to recognize Hispanic voices, ensuring rich innovation and insight for years to come.
