We invite submissions for an upcoming special issue on ‌Building Decarbonization. This special issue covers topics on the latest research focused on reducing the carbon emissions associated with the construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings. We welcome submissions from researchers in all relevant disciplines, such as architecture, urban planning, engineering, computer science, social sciences, and public health.

Building decarbonization is a key factor in the combat against climate change, considering the major role of buildings in producing global greenhouse gas emissions. Innovative solutions for reducing carbon emissions in the building sector are becoming increasingly important. This special issue seeks to feature a collection of high-quality articles that support the advancements of knowledge on minimizing buildings' carbon footprint through multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches and help the transition towards a more sustainable built environment.

Topic Areas

THE SCOPE OF THIS ISSUE INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Innovations in building electrification
  • Advanced heat pump systems for cold climates
  • Low carbon building design and construction strategies
  • Renewable energy integration in buildings
  • Policy and regulatory frameworks for decarbonization
  • Case studies and best practices in building decarbonization
  • Carbon accounting and monitoring in buildings and cities
  • Climate resilience and building adaptation
  • Environmental impacts of decarbonization policies
  • Social and economic implications of building decarbonization
