The Computers and Information in Engineering Division (CIE) covers a broad spectrum of resources relating directly to the use of computers, computing methods, software, and information management in engineering by providing a forum for understanding the application of emerging technologies that impact critical engineering issues of representation, product design and product development, exchange, management and integration of information throughout the entire engineering product and process life-cycle.

The Computers and Information in Engineering (CIE) Division sponsors the Young Engineer Award to recognize a promising young investigator who is making outstanding contributions to the progress in the application of computers in engineering. - Lifetime Achievement Award
CIE sponsors a Lifetime Achievement Award to recognize a person who has had a significant impact on the use of computers in engineering practice and/or education. - Leadership Award
Outstanding performance in one or more areas of concern to both the computer industry and the various engineering fields. - Excellence in Research
CIE recognizes a person for outstanding research contributions in any field associated with the use of computers in engineering. - Distinguished Service Award
The Computers and Information in Engineering (CIE) Division sponsors the Distinguished Service Award to recognize a person for dedicated service in support of the CIE Division's mission. - Best Ph.D. Thesis/Dissertation Award
CIE Best Ph.D. Dissertation Committee sponsors a promising young investigator who authored the best Ph.D thesis of the year in the area of computers and information in engineering. - Best Paper Awards
During the annual CIE conference, the best paper is selected from the entire conference as well as each of the technical committees. The selection is made by the executive committee after nomination from the technical committee chair leadership, based on the following criteria: Relevance to CIE, Originality of Contribution, Breadth of Applicability, Problem Difficulty, Demonstration of Success, Potential for Replication by Others, Quality of Written and Visual Aspects, Comments by Reviewers or Recommendations.

The nomination packet needs to include the nomination letter, candidate's full CV, two additional reference letters, other support materials if any, and the candidate's dissertation if for the best Ph.D. dissertation award.
