Graduating High School students are the next generation of engineers!
The ASME High School Scholarships are available for graduating High School (HS) seniors interested in pursuing engineering degrees. Students must be enrolled full-time in an ABET- accredited* or substantially equivalent** mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology program, no later than the fall after their senior year in high school. These awards will be for the first year of study (non-renewable).

Criteria
● Planning to enroll full-time in an ABET- accredited or substantially equivalent mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology program, no later than the fall after your senior year in high school. (Substantially equivalent means that at least 25% of your courses would be from the Mechanical Engineering Department.)
● Student needs to show their involvement in STEM related activities.
● Demonstrates family financial need in order to go to college.
How to apply
Step 1: You receive a communication from us that includes a button, “Apply here”.
Step 2: Click on the link to apply and it will redirect to the online application.
Step 3: Applicant should make sure to get a transcript (a record of grades) for the first semester of the senior year in high school from the school office.
Step 4: Find a teacher/mentor who can verify the student's STEM activities and ask if they are willing to complete the recommendation section of the application. This person’s email address is needed for the application because they will receive a link where they can write their recommendation for the student.
Step 5: Complete all parts of the application that are required (indicated with a *) and make sure all necessary documents are uploaded, then click “Submit.”
Supporting documents or information
Student's Recommendation – This section of the application may not be written by a parent, friend or relative. The recommendation should attest to the student's technical, creative and leadership contributions in school as well as community and extracurricular activities.
Leadership Activities – information on your job experience and a list of school and extracurricular activities, honors and awards, and things that show leadership potential,
Transcript – with first semester high school senior grades including GPA (grade point average) will need to be uploaded.
Financial Data – information on your family’s resources and expenses will be required.

Student Status: for study in the freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year.
Requirements: Applicants must be a US Citizen and enrolled in a mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or related baccalaureate program in the US. The award recipient will be selected on the basis of scholastic ability, demonstrated financial need, character, leadership and potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession.
Locations: Applicants must study in the US
Scholarship Description
Through the generosity of John W. Gracik, Life Member of ASME, a scholarship fund was established in 1992 in honor of his parents, John and Elsa.
# of awards available: Amounts vary based on need.
Student Status: for study in the first year (High School Graduating Senior), sophomore, junior, or senior year.
Requirements: The award recipients will be selected based on scholastic ability and potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession.
- High school graduating senior (US only) majoring in engineering or undergraduate student majoring in mechanical engineering.
- Attending a university in Idaho.
- Involvement in ASME or other engineering societies/clubs is a bonus to the application.
Locations: US Citizen for (HS applicants), Studying in the US, non-US Citizen.
Scholarship Description:
This scholarship is established by the ASME Idaho Professional Section to help undergraduate students attending a university in Idaho.
