Special Issue on Thermally Connected Energy Systems and Networks for Buildings and Communities
Journal of Engineering for Sustainable Buildings and Cities
Submit PaperWe invite submissions for an upcoming special issue on Thermally Connected Energy Systems and Networks for Buildings and Communities. The focus of the special issue is to highlight advanced technologies, control strategies, and analysis tools for designing, optimizing, retrofitting, and operating efficient energy networks that mutually connect buildings’ heating and cooling systems with other thermal sources (heat source/sink) in the communities, campuses, and cities.
In particular, the special issue would address recent developments in the ‘thermal grid’ technologies including district heating and cooling systems and other thermal energy networks, topologies, and architectures.
We welcome original research articles, review papers, case studies, and short communications from a wide range of studies, including (but not limited to) thermal analysis, heat transfer calculations, fluid flow analysis, cost analysis, control strategies, equipment design, and policy implications. .
Topic Areas
THE SCOPE OF THIS ISSUE INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:- Modeling and analysis tools for feasibility, design, and operation of thermally connected energy networks
- Materials and components of thermal networks such as heat pumps, piping systems and control valves, and other heat sources/sinks
- Building-level impact on thermal loads, energy use, energy cost, and occupant’s comfort
- Traditional and various generations of district heating and cooling systems
- Data centers and waste heat utilization for thermally connecting buildings and communities
- Circular energy economy and impact on energy affordability and reliability
- Seasonal/district thermal storage systems, geothermal heat exchange such as borehole array, groundwater, and aquifers
- Cyber security, control, sensors, actuators, and meters
- Techno-economic feasibility, cost scaling studies, and decision-making tools
- Policies, tariff and market models, environmental impact, and other socio-technical aspects
Submission Instructions
Papers should be submitted electronically to the journal through the ASME Journal Tool. If you already have an account, log in as an author and select Submit Paper. If you do not have an account, you can create one here.Once at the Paper Submittal page, select the Journal of Engineering for Sustainable Buildings and Cities, and then under the Special Issue field, select Special Issue on Thermally Connected Energy Systems and Networks for Buildings and Communities.
Papers received after the deadline or papers not selected for the Special Issue may be accepted for publication in a regular issue.
