Lisa Kunzman

Lisa Kunzman is a nationally recognized fleet management expert with over 33 years of experience in government service, primarily with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). Her career at Caltrans began as a mechanical engineer in the fleet division and progressed through various leadership roles, culminating in her appointment as the Caltrans Fleet Manager. In this capacity, she oversaw a $165 million equipment program and managed statewide equipment shop operations. Lisa’s experience extends beyond fleet management, including roles in maintenance, right of way, budgets, and project management. She has been an active leader in national transportation organizations, serving on committees for the Transportation Research Board and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.

After retiring from public service in 2021, Lisa transitioned to a career as an independent transportation consultant. Her consulting work includes projects for the National Cooperative Highway Research Program, such as research on fleet asset disposal and performance-based management approaches for maintenance. Lisa holds a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Fresno and a Master's in Transportation Management from the California State University, San Jose (Mineta Transportation Institute).
