Betsy Soukup

Betsy Soukup is currently a Mechanical Engineering Manager at DMF Lighting.  DMF designs and builds LED downlighting that sets the bar for flexibility, performance, and quality. DMF’s in-house engineering team pushes the boundaries of lighting, constantly refining products and extending their modular system.  She discovered engineering at a young age, beginning with the high school robotics team. She spent her undergrad at MIT before obtaining a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford. Betsy spent over five years at SpaceX, first as a Manufacturing Engineer and later as a Structural Engineer.

After her time at SpaceX, Betsy joined DMF Lighting in 2022, impressed by their emphasis on engineering, innovation, and simplifying the experience for the end user. In her time as a Senior Mechanical Engineer and now as a Mechanical Engineering Manager, Betsy has taken products from prototypes to mass manufacture and helped introduce methods to improve testing, measuring, and documentation in the department. She has also enjoyed getting to mentor young engineers and help them become more critical thinkers. Her current goals are to continue developing the expertise of her team and push the limits of technology in the lighting industry.
